FAQ: What will I need to run Interactive Sessions onsite?

A: Who should run my interactive sessions?

Traditionally a facilitator/moderator would run it or the AV staff, however, the speaker can also run it with the right training. Whoever is running the Interactive Session will need to have an Interactive Sessions User account created for them.

What devices are compatible with interactive sessions?

All iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets and computers.

What resources/devices will I require to run my session effectively?

It’s recommended to run Interactive Sessions with two computer/devices displays/screens, one to show the Display Screen and one to manage the Facilitator Panel.

What is the best web browser to use when running Interactive Sessions?

Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari are the best web browsers.

FAQ: What is an interactive session?

A: An interactive session is a session that allows you to take part in voting, a discussion and asking questions all via the app.

FAQ: What is the Audience Polling Display Queue?

A: Audience Polling questions are created in a Display Queue. This queue will cycle through when using the Audience Polling feature. Each question will appear one after the other in the queue order.

TIP: Audience polling questions should be loaded in the same order in which they will be asked.

The Display Queue is complete once each question has been asked once. The queue is designed to run through once.

Once a question has been asked, it will no longer be part of the Display Queue. When testing, results will need to be reset in order to reset the Display Queue.

FAQ: How can I see if Audience Polling questions have been asked prior to a session?

A: You can view how many and which Audience Polling questions have been asked through the Core and the Facilitator Panel.

TIP: Once a question has been asked, it will no longer be part of the Display Queue. When testing, results will need to be reset in order to reset the Display Queue

FAQ: Can I ask Audience Polling questions out of order?

A: Yes, you can ask your Audience Polling questions in a different order. You might start with the 4th question in your queue rather than starting with the 1st question.

Questions will continue to cycle through until all questions in the queue after that question has been asked. For example, the first question asked might be the 4th question in the queue of 6 questions. Questions 4 to 6 will be asked as part of the queue, however, as questions 1 to 3 were first in the queue, these will not be asked.

FAQ: Can I ask the same question twice without adding it twice to the Audience Polling Display Queue?

A: Yes, questions that have already been asked can be re-asked. This will be counted as a new question instance and responses collected from this question can be compared to a previous instance/time the question was asked.

FAQ: Can I delete or remove comments from the Live Discussion feed?

A: Posts cannot be deleted from the Live Discussion feed. Posts are also not ‘approved’ before they appear on the Live Discussion - they are simply visible in the feed.

Submitted Questions is a good option if you are wanting more control about what content is being shared/discussed amongst attendees. The Live Discussion is a social feed that is visible to everyone using the App, whereas Submitted Questions, submits the question to the moderator who can choose to push it to the display screen or not.

FAQ: What does it mean to bookmark a comment on the Live Discussion feed?

A: Bookmarking makes it easier to find interesting comments or questions by separating them from all comments in the feed. These comments or questions might then be addressed by the speaker or shown on the Display Screen.

FAQ: What is upvoting?

A: Upvoting allows attendees to vote for the Submitted Questions they would most like the speaker to address. This feature is similar to a ‘like’ or ‘thumbs up’, indicating to the moderator/speaker which questions the attendees would most like answered.

Please note: this feature is not the same as, or linked, to Audience Polling. This feature is only available for Submitted Questions.

FAQ: What does it mean to bookmark a Submitted Question?

A: Bookmarking makes it easier to find interesting comments or questions by separating them from all questions submitted. These questions might then be addressed by the speaker or shown on the Display Screen.

FAQ: How can my attendees post anonymously to the Live Discussion feed?

A: Attendees can not post anonymously to the Live Discussion feed. Attendees must be logged in to use this feature, therefore, all posts and comments made will be directly associated with their personal profile.

Comments or questions posted to the Live Discussion feed can be shown on the Display Screen as ‘anonymous’, however, this will not change the post in the app.

FAQ: How can my attendees post Submitted Questions anonymously?

A: Attendees can submit questions anonymously if they have not yet logged into the app. Once an attendee has logged into the app, any questions submitted will be directly associated with their personal profile.

This is also the case when a Submitted Question is added to the upvote queue and displays in the app. If an attendee is logged in, the question will be displayed in-app with their name.

Submitted Questions can be shown on the Display Screen as ‘anonymous’, however, this will not change what is displayed in the app.

FAQ: Can I have multiple Interactive Sessions Holding Screen images?

A: One global Interactive Sessions background/holding screen image can be uploaded. This image will be used for all Interactive Sessions. It is possible to change the image throughout the event, however, this will affect all Display Screens and will become the global background/holding screen.

FAQ: What details do I use to login to the Interactive Sessions control panel?

A: Log into the Interactive Sessions Control Panel with the same details you log into the Core (CMS) with.

TIP: If multiple people will be logging into the Control Panel during the event, an Interactive Sessions account can be created. This can have a generic email address and password for ease of access.
