.FAQ: What are the default point allocations for Attendee Connect?

A: Points are enabled by default when the Attendee Connect element is activated. While achievements appear in the App showing attendees can earn them, points are accrued in the background. If you wish to share with your attendees how they can earn more points, copy and paste the below into a page in the App. Point allocations may need to be updated if these have been changed by the event organiser.

First login: 100 points

Profile updated: 10 points

Profile image updated: 50 points

Session Feedback submitted: 100 points

FAQ: How should I start my activity feed?

A: Once the activity feed is configured, any statuses or comments posted will appear in the feed.

It is recommended that a welcome status be posted to the activity feed by an organiser to start your activity feed. This post can introduce attendees to the activity feed, explain a little about what it is and how to use it.

To do this, a profile can be set up for the specific event/organiser, and the post can come from that profile.

Some suggested copy:

'Welcome to the {insert conference name} Activity Feed! Be sure to introduce yourself and share your thoughts and photos throughout the event'

 

FAQ: How do I run a leaderboard competition?

A: Leaderboard competitions can be a great way to encourage engagement through the App. The leaderboard and points can be enhanced when coupled with other Elements such as Lead Capture and other Attendee Connect features. By allowing attendees to earn points in a variety of ways, the leaderboard competition can be kept interesting and engaging.

To setup a leaderboard competition

  1. Enable points 
  2. Configure point allocations 
  3. Create default achievements 
  4. List point allocations in the App
  5. List any prizes in the App (see below)
  6. Add Leaderboard and Achievements icon to Main Menu

A: Only you are the person you message can see the messages that are sent.

 

FAQ: What do attendees need to know about Attendee Connect?

A: We know it’s important to keep your attendees in the loop. Here are some things to keep in mind when sending communication to your attendees about Attendee Connect:

  • How will your attendees be logging in?
  • How will you be communicating this login method to your attendees?
  • What do your attendees need to know about the Attendee Connect features?
    • How to use the Activity Feed
    • Potential prizes for scoring highly on the leaderboard
    • How to message another attendee
    • How to use the Profile List to find fellow attendees and message them

 

FAQ: Can I accept registrations without having the registration element active?

A: For those smaller projects, a lite alternative exists to substitute the paid Registration element. The basic Signup Form allows for relevant user data to be captured and imported directly into the Core to allow for login and unrestricted access to an app that may otherwise be locked to the public. This feature is located under Project Configuration. Refer to the In-app Signup Form article for more.

A few options are readily available for configuration, being;

  • the form’s title and status,
  • the registration complete heading and accompanying message,
  • and, the ability to toggle on email confirmation and adjust the email subject (the appearance of these emails is altered under Project Configuration > Emails > Design

 

FAQ: I don’t want to distribute login codes to my attendees. How else can my attendees have profiles in the app?

A: A basic signup form allows for relevant user data to be captured and imported directly into the Core to allow for login and unrestricted access to an app that may otherwise be locked to the public.

 

FAQ: Why is my Profile List in the app empty?

A: Attendees can choose to either opt in or out of being visible in the profile list through their privacy settings found in My App. In order for attendees to appear on the profile list, they need to be set to “Visible in List”.

 

FAQ: How can I set my attendees to be visible in the profile list and allow messaging by default?

A: An attendee’s privacy settings on first login can be setup in the Core. Once an attendee has logged into the app, these privacy settings are triggered. When changing an attendee’s default privacy settings, it is best practice to allow them to opt out of these settings when they first login, by enabling privacy settings to appear when an attendee first logs in.

To configure attendees to be visible by default and for the attendee to opt out

  1. Navigate to Project Configuration > Profiles from the Navigation Menu
  2. Click the Login & Authentication tab
  3. Navigate to Options > Default privacy on first login to
  4. Select Visible in List and Allow Messaging from the drop-down menu
  5. Navigate to Options > Show Privacy Settings on First Login
  6. Select Show from the drop-down menu
  7. Click Save

 

FAQ: How can I set what profile fields appear in the profile list?

A: By default, an Attendee’s name, position and organisation will appear on an attendee’s profile page in the profile list. Additional information such as any custom profile fields can be set to be visible in the profile list.

To set a custom profile field to display in the profile list

  1. Navigate to Project Configuration > Profiles from the Navigation Menu
  2. Select or create the relevant profile field
  3. Navigate to Profile Visibility
  4. Select Visible from the drop-down menu
  5. Click Save

Any other information such as Email Address and Contact Number visibility in the profile list will need to be set by the attendee on their device.

A: Only you are the person you message can see the messages that are sent.

FAQ: How can I delete a post from the Activity Feed?

A: Profiles with Organiser permissions are able to delete comments directly from the event app. Alternatively, if you are not setup with Organiser permissions but have Core access, you will be able to delete comments directly from the Core.

To delete comments from the event app

  1. Navigate to the Activity Feed in the event app
  2. Navigate to the comment you wish to delete
  3. Long-hold on the relevant comment
  4. Click Delete Post

To delete comments from the Core

  1. Navigate to Attendee Connect > Activity Feed from the Navigation Menu
  2. Select the Preview tab
  3. Navigate to the comment to be deleted
  4. Click the drop-down and select Delete
  5. Confirm by clicking Delete

 

FAQ: What is the difference between points and achievements?

A: Points are awarded for performing single actions such as posting to the activity feed or viewing a notification. Each action is allocated its own number of points for completing the action.

Achievements encourage attendees to perform actions multiple times and engage further in the App. Working with the point system, achievements are awarded on top of any points for completing the action.

 

FAQ: What are default points?

FAQ: What are default achievements?

A: A set of default achievements can be activated in the Core to ensure that engagement is maximised with as little setup time as possible. In addition to default achievements, these can be edited or new achievements created to tailor the gamified experience.

 

FAQ: The leaderboard says I need to update my visibility settings to reveal my position on the leaderboard. How do I do this?

A: To update your profile visibility, you will need to update your profile settings. Profile Settings are located in the MyApp icon on the Main Menu of the app. Here you can update personal details, or customise your privacy settings.

 

FAQ: I am not visible in the profile list. What does this effect in the app?  

A: If you are not visible in the event app, you will not be able to:

  • Participate in a leaderboard competition
  • Appear in the Profile List
  • Be messagable from the Profile List

To update your privacy to visible, you will need to update your profile settings. Profile Settings are located in the MyApp icon on the Main Menu of the app. Here you can update personal details, or customise your privacy settings.

 

FAQ: What is the Profile List used for and do I need to I need to be a part of it?

A: The profile list acts as both a list of those attending the event and a contact list.

When a fellow attendee is set to visible, they will appear in the profile list. Depending on their personal privacy settings their personal profile in the profile list can also include additional information such as contact number and email address.

When a fellow attendee is set to visible and allows messaging, they will appear in the profile list and you will be able to send them in-app messages.

 

FAQ: How private is private messaging?

A: Only you are the person you message can see the messages that are sent.

 

FAQ: How can I delete a post from the Activity Feed?

A: If a fellow attendee posts something inappropriate to the Activity Feed, you can report this to your event organiser through the event app..

Note: If a comment is reported, it will remain part of the Activity Feed until deleted by the event organiser.

To manage reported or inappropriate posts

  1. Navigate to the Activity Feed in the event app
  2. Navigate to the comment you wish to delete
  3. Long-hold on the relevant comment
  4. Click Report Post

A: Points are awarded for performing single actions such as posting to the activity feed or viewing a notification. Each action is allocated its own number of points for completing the action.

FAQ: How do I earn points on the leaderboard?

A: Points can be earned through interacting with the app and fellow attendees. For example, viewing push notifications, visiting pages in the app and posting to the Activity Feed all earn points. Points are accrued in the background of the app, and can only be viewed on the leaderboard once they have been earned.
