There are some things you need to consider when configuring Attendee Connect for your event. These include which features of Attendee Connect you choose for your events, and how attendees will access these. How you plan to use Attendee Connect at your event will guide you to best configure your project.
Attendee Connect Features
It is important to consider which features your attendees can access through the event app. Outlined below are the various features of Attendee Connect.
Please note: Attendees must be logged in to access Attendee Connect features.
Feature 1: Profile List
The Profile List shows a list of attendees and their public details. Visibility of personal details such as email address and contact number is controlled by the attendee via their profile settings. The attendee can also control whether they are visible in the Profile List or not.
Considerations:
- What do attendees need to know about their privacy and the Profile List?
- How will you communicate with attendees?
- How will attendees log into the app?
- Setup Event App and profile login
- Separate icon for Profile List
Feature 2: Messaging
Messaging allows attendees to send private in-app messages to one another. Attendees can control whether they want to be publically listed in the Profile List and contactable via messaging.
TIP:
Messaging works best alongside the profile list. The Profile List then acts as a contact list.
Considerations:
- What do attendees need to know about their privacy and Messaging?
- How will you communicate with attendees?
- How will attendees log into the app?
- Setup Event App and profile login
- How will attendees access Messages (separate icon or via MyEvent)?
Feature 3: Activity Feed
The Activity Feed allows attendees to create an in-app community, through sharing images, commenting on pages in-app, and responding to fellow attendees. The Activity Feed can be configured to allow attendees to comment on various page types, as well as the main feed. Images posted to the Activity Feed can then be exported through the CMS post-event.
Considerations:
- What do attendees need to know about the Activity Feed?
- How will you communicate with attendees?
- How will attendees log into the app?
- Setup Event App and profile login
- Separate icon for Activity Feed
Feature 4: Points and Leaderboard
Points and leaderboard allow the Event App to be turned into an interactive game. Through gamification, attendees earn points and unlock achievements through interactions with the app, therefore increasing attendee engagement.
Considerations:
- What do attendees need to know about Points and Leaderboard and earning points?
- How will you communicate with attendees?
- How will attendees log into the app?
- Setup Event App and profile login
- Separate icon for Leaderboard
- Will you have additional achievements?
Attendee Event App Access
Attendees can access the Event App in a variety of ways. One important thing to remember when using Attendee Connect features, attendees must be logged into a personal profile in the Event App. It is recommended that you determine how your attendees will access the app well in advance of App launch etc. Below are some of the options available for accessing the app with a personal profile.
App Access Method 1: Profile Login
With pre-loaded profile data, attendees are provided with unique login credentials. There are a variety of options for what details your attendees can log into the Event App with. Read more about these here.
Considerations:
- Will registrations be taking place prior to the event and loaded into the CMS?
- How will my attendees be logging in?
- What information needs to be shared with attendees regarding logging in?
App Access Method 2: In-app Registration
For events with no pre-loaded profile data, attendees can register themselves in the Event App. This will automatically create a profile for the attendee. This is a good option if you have a public event or exhibition that does not require pre-registration or an Event App that does not contain sensitive information.
Considerations:
- What information needs to be communicated to attendees regarding access to the Event App?
- How will you encourage attendees to download and interact with the app?
- Is the app content sensitive/private?
