There are some things to consider when using an Event App for your event. These include which features of App you choose for your events, and how attendees will access these. How you plan to use your Event App at your event will guide you to best configure your project.
App Features
It is important to consider which features you attendees can access through the Event App. Outlined below are the various features of App

Feature 1: App Appearance

App Appearance controls how the app looks. This can be designed to match event branding and create sponsorship opportunities. App Appearance is controlled by the organiser in the CMS, and design changes are reflected immediately in the Event App.

Feature 2: Main Menu

The App Main Menu refers to the App home screen in the Event App. The Main Menu allows you to create and manage menu items for content and features to be displayed in the app. Choose from several sets of default icons, or upload custom icons. Custom menu icons can also be used as a sponsorship opportunity.

Feature 3: My App

My App (also known as MyEvent), allows attendees to manage their app settings, privacy settings, view bookmarked content, export session notes and view their messaging inbox. Attendees must be logged in to control their privacy settings and access their messaging inbox.

- What do attendees need to know about My App and their privacy settings?

Feature 4: Page Banners
Page banners can be created to appear at the bottom of the app. Banners can be used to draw an attendees’ attention to something in the App (e.g. feedback form or special event) or be used as a sponsorship opportunity.

- Will sponsor banners link to something (e.g. sponsor’s page, submission form)
Feature 5: Submission Forms

Submission forms can be used to gather information from attendees. For example, session or speaker feedback, registering interest for next year’s event, voting on a poster listing etc. If attendees are logged into the Event App, their personal details can be submitted along with their submission form response.

Feature 7: Push Notifications
*Recommended*
Push notifications are used to communicate important information to attendees using images, text and links to pages in-app. They can be used to keep attendees up to date with schedule changes, reminders, or to highlight any App sponsors etc. Push Notifications can be sent to all attendees, to sent to segmented groups (Push Notification Categories). It is recommended to create a Push Notification schedule prior to the event to ensure attendees are not receiving too many notifications.

- How many Push Notifications will you send?
- Will you have segmented Push Notification Categories?
- What do sponsors need to know about potential sponsorship opportunities?
Feature 8: Popup Messages
Popup messages can be used to highlight important information to attendees when they navigate to pages in the App. They can also be used as a sponsorship opportunity, allowing sponsors to ‘sponsor’ a page in the app, and have their branding associated with it (e.g. Schedule, Speakers etc.)

- How many Popup Messages will you have?
- What do sponsors need to know about potential sponsorship opportunities?
Feature 9: Smart Redirects
Smart Redirects allow you to show targeted content to attendees based on profile or device information. Smart redirects utilise profile type and other multiple-choice custom fields. This information is used to formulate rules to direct attendees to relevant information based on their profile data.

- What content can be used with Smart Redirects?

Feature 10: In-app Badges
In-app badges allow attendees to access their unique QR code without the need for a physical attendee badge. In-app badges use the same QR code and profile data that would be generated on a badge using the Badge Creator.
Considerations:
- What information will be visible on the in-app badge?
- What QR Codes will be used?
- What do attendees need to know about their in-app bage?

Attendee Event App Access
Attendees can access the Event App in a variety of ways. One important thing to remember when using Attendee Connect features, attendees must be logged into a personal profile in the Event App. It is recommended that you determine how your attendees will access the app well in advance of App launch etc. Below are some of the options available for accessing the app with a personal profile.
App Access Method 1: Profile Login
With pre-loaded profile data, attendees are provided with unique login credentials. There are a variety of options for what details your attendees can log into the Event App with. Read more about these here.

- Will registrations be taking place prior to the event and loaded into the CMS?
- How will my attendees be logging in?
- What information needs to be shared with attendees regarding logging in?
App Access Method 2: In-app Registration
For events with no pre-loaded profile data, attendees can register themselves in the Event App. This will automatically create a profile for the attendee. This is a good option if you have a public event or exhibition that does not require pre-registration or an Event App that does not contain sensitive information.

- How will you encourage attendees to download and interact with the app?
- Is the app content sensitive/private?
App Access Method 3: Shared Password
Shared passwords can keep content private without needing profile data. This is typically used when there are no profiles, but Event App content cannot be publicly accessible.

- How will you encourage attendees to download and interact with the app?
- Is the app content sensitive/private?
- Which features require Profile Login to be accessible?
App Access Method 4: Public App
A public app allows unrestricted access to all content and features that don’t require profile login. his level of privacy is generally used to events that are open to the public, where attendees don’t have to pre-register and can have full access to the app.

- How will you encourage attendees to download and interact with the app?
