How to create abstracts
Abstracts can be displayed in the app and linked to relevant speaker profiles and sessions. These abstracts can either be uploaded as an accompanying downloadable PDF, plain text or weblink.
Abstract title, subtitle and copy can be uploaded in bulk to make the upload of abstracts easier (see below for steps).
To create an abstract content page type
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Click Create a New Page from the right-hand options on the Configuration Panel
- Select Abstracts from the list of page types
- Click Create
- Enter a Title for your Abstracts content page type (your abstracts container page)
- Click Save
To create abstract
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Select your Abstracts content page type
- Click +
- Enter a Title and Subtitle (if required)
- Click Save
To upload abstract PDF
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Select your Abstracts content page type
- Select your abstract
- Navigate to the Documents tab
- Click +
- Select File Upload
- Enter a Title for your abstract PDF and select an icon (these will be the title and icon to represent the PDF document in the app)
- Upload your PDF
- Click Save
To upload abstract as text
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Select your Abstracts content page type
- Select your abstract
- Copy abstract text into Abstract Copy text box
- Click Save
To upload abstract as weblink
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Select your Abstracts content page type
- Select your abstract
- Click the globe icon above the copy editor
- Enter a Title, select an icon, action upon clicking and enter a URL (Note: The title should be an action such as ‘Click to view abstract’)
- Click Insert
- Click Save
To link abstract to speakers and a session
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Select your Abstracts content page type
- Select your abstract
- Navigate to Attached Speakers
- Select the appropriate speaker/s from the list
- Navigate to Attached Sessions
- Select the session from the drop-down
- Click Save
How to bulk upload abstracts
Abstract Title, Subtitle and Copy can be uploaded in bulk to make the upload of abstracts easier. If your abstracts are hosted on a website or an external server, weblinks to direct attendees to the abstract can also be uploaded.
To bulk upload abstracts
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Select your abstract content page type from the list of pages
- Select Import Abstracts from the right-hand options on the Configuration Panel
- Click Choose file and select the abstract .xls
- Click Validate
- Click Import
Any errors with the import will appear in the Error Output box below the importer. These will need to be resolved before you can import.
To format website/weblinks for bulk upload
Note: this step will need to be completed prior to uploading if you have weblinks.
- Navigate to Content from the Navigation Menu
- Select your abstract content page type from the list of pages
- Click +
- Click the globe icon above the copy editor
- Enter a Title, select an icon, action upon clicking and enter a URL (Note: The title should be an action such as ‘Click to view abstract’)
- Click Insert
- Copy everything in your link up to the weblink (e.g.~link~Click here to view abstract~36~9~1,)
- In excel, create a new column
- Merge your existing weblinks and the links created in the copy editor (e.g. ~link~Click here to view abstract~36~9~1,www.test.com.au)
- “~link~Click here to view abstract~36~9~1,”&E2
- Select the column
- Copy
- Paste as values
