Configure Push Notifications

How to configure push notifications

Push notifications are used to communicate important information to attendees using images, text and links to pages in-app. They can be used to keep attendees up to date with schedule changes, reminders, or to highlight any App sponsors etc.

Push notifications can be sent to specific attendees, or groups of attendees using push notification categories.

Push Notification Requirements

Push notifications can either be sent as all text or can include an image. Each type has slightly different requirements:

Text Push Notification

Title (130 characters)

Message (no character limit)

Image Push Notification

Title (130 Characters)

Image (Recommended: A width between 400px and 450px with a height of 600px)

Immediate send vs queued

Push notifications can be set to send immediately or queued for a later send time. See below for some examples of when each might be useful:

Immediate Send: Room changes on the schedule, last-minute menu change for the gala dinner, session updates, wet weather plans for outside activities etc.

Queued: Session welcome messages, reminders, sponsored messages, reminders to attendees of what the next day has in store etc.

TIP: create a push notification schedule before beginning uploading push notifications so they can be queued to send at a later time.

To create a push notification

  1. Navigate to App > Push Notifications from the Navigation Menu
  2. Click + Create a Notification
  3. Input Title
  4. Select what type of push notification
    1. Text Enter text with an unlimited number of characters. This will appear under the push notification title when opened.
    2. Image Will appear under the title when opened. Recommended size is a width between 400px and 450px and a height of 600px.
  5. Enter text or upload image
  6. Select a Target Page (optional)
  7. Select if this will be sent as a push notification*
*If not selected, attendees will not be notified the push notification has been sent. Instead, it will appear under the Notifications icon
  8. Select Time Zone, Date and Time for send
  9. Click Save

To queue a push notification

Notifications can be queued to send at a later time and date. This is done during the process of creating the push notification, and if queued, can be changed at a later time before it sends.

To queue a push notification, when selecting the Time Zone, Date and Time, set the date and time into the future. Once a new date and time have been selected, an estimated time to notification send will appear. Ensure this is set to the future, and will not send immediately.

To edit a push notification

Notifications can be edited while they are queued or after they have been sent. Note: If editing after sent, this will only update the notification in the list view.

  1. Navigate to App > Push Notifications from the Navigation Menu
  2. Click the Title of the relevant notification
  3. Make updates
  4. Click Save

To delete a push notification

Notifications can be deleted while they are queued or after they have been sent. If deleted after it has been sent, this will remove it from the list view in the App.

  1. Navigate to App > Push Notifications from the Navigation Menu
  2. Click the drop-down arrow for the relevant notification
  3. Click Delete
  4. Confirm by clicking Delete
