Submitted Questions - Facilitator Guide

Submitted Questions allow attendees to submit their own questions they would like the speaker to address. 

All questions are submitted to the moderator, who can choose to bookmark relevant questions for later use. These questions can then be pushed to the Audience Display Screen and addressed by the facilitator/speaker or turned into an Audience Polling question for the audience.

Submitted Questions are a good option if you want more control over the content being shared/discussed amongst attendees.

Questions submitted by attendees can also be placed in an Upvote Queue. This allows fellow attendees to vote for the Submitted Questions they want the speaker to address. Upvoting is similar to a ‘like’ or ‘thumbs up’, indicating to the moderator/speaker which questions the attendees would most like answered.

Enable Submitted Questions

The Ask a Question / Submitted Questions feature needs to be enabled before it can be accessible by attendees.

By enabling this feature, you allow attendees to submit their own questions to the moderator/speaker to be addressed during a session.

To enable Submitted Questions

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Select the event
  3. Click Facilitator for the relevant session
  4. Navigate to Submitted Questions from the top menu
  5. Toggle to Enabled

 

View Submitted Questions from the Facilitator Panel

When enabled, attendees can submit their own questions to the moderator/speaker. These questions can then be viewed using the Facilitator Panel.

TIP:

Submitted Questions are only visible in the Facilitator Panel, and cannot be viewed in the App until they are approved for upvoting.

To view Submitted Questions from the Facilitator Panel

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Select the event
  3. Click Facilitator for the relevant session
  4. Navigate to Submitted Questions from the top menu
  5. Submitted Questions will appear in the centre
  6. As new questions are submitted, click the refresh button on the right-hand side to view the latest questions

 

Bookmark a Submitted Question

Bookmarks can be used to separate Submitted Questions that might be used later to display on the Display Screen or to address at a later point in time.

TIP:

Bookmarks are only visible in the Facilitator Panel, and cannot be viewed in the App.

To bookmark a Submitted Question

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Select the event
  3. Click Facilitator for the relevant session
  4. Navigate to Submitted Questions from the top menu
  5. Navigate to the comment you wish you bookmark and click the bookmark icon on the right-hand side

To view bookmarked Submitted Questions

  1. Navigate to the feature options
  2. Click Bookmarked

 

Display a Submitted Question on the Display Screen

Submitted Questions can be shared with all attendees on the Display Screen. This feature allows a speaker to address an interesting Submitted Question.

TIP:

Submitted Questions are only visible in the Facilitator Panel, and cannot be viewed in the App until they are approved for upvoting.

To display Submitted Questions on the Display Screen

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Select the event
  3. Click Facilitator for the relevant session
  4. Navigate to Submitted Questions from the top menu
  5. Click on the comment you wish to display
    1. Select Send to Screen as Display Only to display the question.
    2. Select Add to Display Queue to add the question to the queue. This will add the comment to the end of the Display Queue and will be visible on the Display Screen when cycling through the Display Queue.

 

Create an Audience Polling Question from a Submitted Question

Submitted Questions can be turned into an Audience Polling question and addressed to fellow attendees.

To create an Audience Polling Question from a Submitted Question

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Select the event
  3. Click Facilitator for the relevant session
  4. Navigate to Submitted Questions from the top menu
  5. Click the Submitted Question you wish to turn into an Audience Polling question
  6. Select Create an Audience Polling Question from this Comment from the list
  7. Update the question and select style of answers
  8. Click Create Question
  9. Click Yes to ask this question

To ask Audience Polling question created from a Submitted Question

  1. Click Start Voting
  2. When ready to close the question, click Stop Voting and Show Answer or Close and Remove

TIP

Asking an Audience Polling question created from a Submitted Question will not be part of the Audience Polling Display Queue. If you wish to return to the Display Queue at any time, please navigate to Select from All Questions and select the next question in your existing Display Queue.

 

Upvoting

Upvoting allows attendees to vote for the Submitted Questions they would most like the speaker to address. This feature is similar to a ‘like’ or ‘thumbs up’, indicating to the moderator/speaker which questions the attendees would most like answered.

Please note

This feature is not the same as, or linked, to Audience Polling. This feature is only available for Submitted Questions.

 

Enable Upvoting on Submitted Questions

Any Submitted Questions you would like attendees to upvote will need to be enabled individually per question. Once enabled, these questions will display in-app and attendees can upvote their favourite questions.

TIP

If a question has not been enabled for upvoting, it will not display in-app, only in the Facilitator Panel.

To enable upvoting on Submitted Questions

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Select the event
  3. Click Facilitator for the relevant session
  4. Navigate to Submitted Questions from the top menu
  5. Click on the Submitted Question you wish to enable upvoting
  6. Click Add to Upvote Queue

 

Send top upvoted Submitted Questions to the Display Screen

Once your relevant Submitted Questions have been enabled for upvoting, the top upvoted questions can be displayed on the Display Screen. This can make it easier for the moderator/speaker to address these questions and is a simple way to display how many upvotes the top questions received.

TIP

The top upvoted questions will not live update on the screen. This will need to be left until all upvotes have been collected or must be refreshed for the latest results.

To send top upvoted Submitted Questions to the Display Screen

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel
  2. Select the event
  3. Click Facilitator for the relevant session
  4. Navigate to Submitted Questions from the top menu
  5. Select Send Top Voted to Display from the feature menu
  6. Select the number of top upvoted questions to display on the Display Screen
